Meet Jennifer

 

Hi everyone! I’m Jennifer, the designer and maker behind Sterling Sea Jewelry, and I’m so happy you’ve found my little corner of the internet! Growing up in Freshwater, Newfoundland, I was always drawn to the ocean. Beachcombing along the rocky shores, searching for sea glass, and even trying to sell my little treasures door-to-door (with mixed success!) was part of my childhood.

As someone who has always struggled with anxiety, the ocean has been my safe place—a source of calm and grounding. In my professional life, I’m a social worker, so I know firsthand the importance of finding ways to cope with stress and anxiety. Creating jewelry has become one of my personal strategies. It's a way to channel that sense of peace I find near the ocean into something tangible that I can share with others.

My passion for sea glass jewelry grew from my desire to keep that sense of calm with me, wherever I went. This led me to learn silversmithing, so I could encase the beautiful sea glass I found in sterling silver and create something I could wear every day. Each piece of jewelry I make by hand feels like carrying a little piece of the ocean’s serenity with me.
